Inclusive Transformations
My fellow students and I save space for people at our school, talk to teachers and underclassmen about queer events and gender for the purpose of educating all people about LGBTQIA+ awareness.
I served as Social Media Coordinator during my sophomore year. I served as Vice President during my junior year. As the Vice President, I help plan, coordinate, oversee all the events on our calendar.
Every Pride Month, we do a Bake Sale. We’ve also been doing Homecoming the past few years, and we sell items and play games with the kids. Through GSA, I was able to change my name at my school to my preferred name that corresponds with my chosen gender.
We let people know about queer events to raise awareness: Day of Silence Trans Day Awareness, Pride Month. We have a Middle School Panel where we go to Jericho Middle School and talk to the kids there and answer any questions they have.
New York Marine Rescue Center, Long Island, East End
I volunteer at the Rescue center, where I run the register and inform visitors about the endangered turtles that the Marine Center takes in. Turtles get hypothermia and wash up on the shores because of cold stunting, an ocean process that can suddenly lower the temperature of ocean waters. Right now we have have quite a few turtles!
Jericho Theater Program Kids Corner
Every year during theater season, we fundraise for our productions by organizing games with the local kids, to include karaoke, making bracelets, paper crafts, and face painting. This is a way for us to connect with the kids in the community and introduce kids to the theater world as well.
2022-2023
Kids Helping Pets Club
At my school, we fundraise several times a year for local animal shelters so that the animals can have proper living spaces, caretakers, food, and medical care. For the fundraising, we do bake sales as well as make an annual pet calendar to sell to parents and kids at the school. In last year’s 2023 calendar, Rudy, my yorkie, was featured for the month of March!
